Shine-enhancing phenyl silicone oil for cosmetic formulations
BRB Phenyl Trimethicone (PTM 20) is a colourless polyphenylmethylsiloxane that improves the performance of many cosmetic formulations. The oil adds shine to hair, reduces the tackiness of organic ingredients and is highly soluble in alcohol. The viscosity is 22.5 mm²/s at 25 °C, the density 0.980 g/cm³ and the refractive index 1.46.

This is a raw material for cosmetic formulations. As formulator or manufacturer, you are responsible for the safety assessment and claims of your end product under the EU Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009. Always test the stability and tolerability of your formula yourself.

Application
- Add PTM 20 to the oil phase of your formula.
- Emulsify with standard emulsifiers using common techniques.
- In alcoholic systems, dissolve PTM 20 directly in ethanol. At 4 °C, up to 50 % (by weight) dissolves in 95 % ethanol.
- Test the shine, spreadability and stability of your final formula.
