Silicone Condensation Accelerator speeds up the curing process and shortens the demoulding time.
This one-component, whitish emulsion is added to Part A of condensation-cure silicones to shorten the working time and demoulding time of the silicone.
The effect of this accelerator depends very heavily on the formulation of the condensation-cure silicone and the curing agent used.
Processing
This accelerator can be added to Part A, after which the accelerated Part A can simply be stored again. The accelerated Part A therefore does not have to be used straight away (unless you have already added the curing agent).
As a rough guide, 0.1% accelerator (relative to the weight of Part A) shortens the working time by 15%.
Always carry out your own test to see which amount gives the best working time and demoulding time in your situation and with your silicone and curing agent.
We normally recommend staying between 0.1% and 2%, so for example 1 to 20 grams of accelerator per 1 kg of Part A.
Important:
Air humidity, moisture in the surface you are covering with silicone and moisture in the silicone itself have a very large effect on the curing time of condensation-cure silicones. Temperature also has some influence, but clearly less. All tests are carried out at 20 oC and 50% relative humidity. Higher humidity accelerates the silicone. Higher temperatures of up to 35 oC also accelerate the silicone. Lower temperatures and lower humidity slow the silicone down.
Shelf life
Stored in closed packaging in a cool, frost-free place, the shelf life is at least 2 years.
Safety requirements:
This product can be corrosive to both the body and materials. Wear liquid-tight gloves, an apron and safety goggles.
In case of eye contact: rinse for several minutes with fresh, clean water.
In case of skin contact: wash the skin with soap.
Consult a doctor if irritation worsens or persists.
