Silicone Condensation Thixo C is a thickening agent for all condensation-cure (tin) silicones.
Thixo makes it possible not only to pour the silicone but also to apply it with a spatula or brush.
Silicone Thixo C(ondensation) is a thick liquid component that you can add to pourable condensation silicone so that it becomes spreadable/brushable. This allows you to also coat vertical and sloping surfaces without the silicone dripping off again.
Processing
First mix Part A and Part B of the silicone. Once this has been done to your satisfaction, you can add the Thixo C. Do this in steps of 0.5% and stir well each time to see whether the desired thickness/stiffness of the silicone has been achieved. Usually 1% is used.
Example: for 1 kg of silicone, 10 grams of Thixo C is usually used.
Special instructions
Thixo C becomes more fluid as it gets warmer. In winter it may therefore be necessary to place it near a radiator for a while.
Do not use more than 4% Thixo C, as this can adversely affect the silicone.
Please note: this product is not the catalyst (curing agent) of the silicone. You must therefore always mix Part A and Part B of the silicone first, before adding the Thixo C.
Thixo increases the hardness of the silicone by about 1 Shore point and slightly shortens the pot life and demoulding time.
This Thixo C only works with condensation silicones and therefore NOT with addition silicones such as Silicone Addition Green etc.
Packaging
Silicone Thixo C is available in a 50 or 500 gram bottle. This is usually enough for approximately 5 kg or 50 kg of condensation silicone mixture.
Shelf life
Provided the components are stored in closed packaging, cool and frost-free, out of direct sunlight, the shelf life is at least 1 year.
