Flexible wax rods for gating and venting

Wax Vent Rods are 60 cm rods made of a soft but firm red wax. You bend them into shape at room temperature without breaking or cracking and use them as vents, gates or sprues in the lost wax process. The rods are available round and square, hollow and solid, in various diameters.

Easy to bend: bends at room temperature without breaking or cracking.
Firm: does not sag.
Burns out completely: the bronze foundry burns the rods out completely.
Many sizes: round solid from 6.35 to 19.05 mm, round hollow 18.8 and 25 mm, square hollow 14.1 and 37.5 mm.

Processing

Cut the rods to the required length with a (putty) knife.
Bend the rod into shape, preferably at room temperature (15 to 30 °C).
Attach the rod to your pattern by carefully melting the end and letting it set on the pattern.
You can also bond the rod with sticky wax or superglue.

Points to note

✓ Below 15 °C the wax may break when bent.
✓ The rods are sometimes bent for transport. Straighten them again at room temperature.
✓ Avoid skin contact with molten wax and do not inhale the fumes.
✓ Shelf life: at least 3 years.
